This program is an extension of the Game of Life that transforms the classical Life from an environment for various experiments into a genuine game with an active player and a clear goal: rival colonies of virtual germs wage a war against each other, and you takes part in this battle in real time as a commander of your own living army; the playing space can be changed by inserting various auxiliary objects (sources of life, stones, food and poison). The colonies' behavior is highly amusing and unpredictable. Your goal is to capture control over all this chaos (there is a wide choice of goals: destroying one colony by adding cells to another colony; struggle for life, space or food; suppressing aggressiveness of the enemy life sources ; and many others). Flexible settings can be adapted for any selected goal: the program keeps detailed statistics and uses it to calculate a score according to adjustable score rules; the colonies growth can be automatically ceased by an autostop condition defined by the user; player capabilities can be regulated by restrictions of input. In addition, the program gives power to change rules of birth and death that is greater than in other implementations of Conway's Life. Thus, CellFighter allows you to construct and play many various games: each game can have its own goals (score rules), condition of end (autostop condition), behavior of artificial life (rules of birth and death), player capabilities (restrictions of input) and game environment (extra types of cells). It is an entire factory of games based on wars between chaotic swarms of tiny fighters! But this is not all - the features list can be continued: adjustable colors and forms of cells; import of patterns written in the most popular formats of Life files ("picture" and "point list"); copying the playing field to memory and restoring it from memory with one press of the button; adjustable speed of evolution. Scudden Death 2 is a real-time 2D war game. You can play singleplayer missions and multiplayer splitscreen. The game has got 75 predefined missions, and you can even add additional levels and missions created by yourself or others, and generate random missions on the fly, using the in-game mission generator.
The game features units like soldiers, planes, helicopters, cars, tanks, boats, submarines, turrets, radars, civilians, and various xtreme units like nuke, minigun tank, gauss tank, Rambo, Osama, predator, space ship, ufo, and more. Units can be inserted from ground or air.
In singleplayer mode, the player must complete missions to unlock new missions. The player has a limited amount of units available when playing, and the amount of units vary from mission to mission. Some units are out on the battlefield at the start of a mission, and additional units can in some missions be inserted during the missions. The game has got 75 predefined missions, and they vary from attack missions, defending, rescue operations, and more. In the random mission generator, various parameters can be tweaked, like the amount of units at the player's disposal, amount of enemies, which level to play at, and more.
In multiplayer mode, the players fight wars against each other in spitscreen mode, trying to kill each other's headquarters. They must buy the units they use, and earn additional money when killing their opponents units. Both players buy and insert some units onto the battlefield before starting the war, and buy and insert additional units during the war.
Scudden Death 2 is the sequel of the freeware game Scudden Death that was released back in 2001.
