An easily mastered tool maintains backups of files in zip or cab format on hard and removable disks (CD, Zip drives etc.), in a LAN or WAN. A Wizard guides you through the steps of the backup-set creation: supplying the paths and filters for the included and excluded files, specifying the storage folder and compressing ratio, selecting the incremental or differential backup method. Enabling file inclusion on the date-time basis, you will back up the new and changed files only. Having configured the backup-set only once, you are free to create as many backup copies as you wish. Just press the Backup button or click the shortcut on the Desktop. The Command-line support provides you with the ability to get unattended backups by using your favorite Automation utility. Once the backup is created, you can easily restore the files stored within it, view or edit their content. The import/export features are useful to synchronize the folders on different PCs and to span the large backups across the multiple disks. [ASP] A program that allows backup and restore of files that span multiple floppy disks. It is not dependent upon the version of the DOS or Windows(tm) operating system. Any size file can be saved on multiple floppy disks, and the disks can already contain other files. The backup/restore process uses cyclic redundancy checks (CRC) to assure exact file integrity. The language of the prompts and messages can be changed into another language. Included with the package is Info-ZIP's 'Zip' and 'UnZip' programs that can be used to compress a list of files into one file prior to backup. The User's Manual is approximately 73 pages and can be created by a companion program; after which you can copy it to your printer. Registered users will not be limited to two floppy disks in a backup. The program can be run from DOS or Windows(tm).

Have you ever had a large file that you have wanted to back up onto floppy disks, CDs or Zip disks, copy to another computer, email to someone whos email box is not large enough to hold the file or distribute reliably over the Internet? PhileSplitter allows you to split a file into a number of smaller pieces which can later be re-assembled to make the original file. Suppose you wanted to distribute a large file over the Internet. If something goes wrong, the user loses everything they've downloaded so far. Most people do not have file resumers, plus these are incompatible with many servers. Using PhileSplitter you can split the file into small pieces and generate a script that will re-assemble the file once the user has downloaded all the pieces. PhileSplitter will even generate a web page for people to download and decompress these pieces if you want it to! Using PhileSplitter you can split to a folder on your hard disk or span across floppies, CDs or Zip disks. You can split just a single file (very large file sizes are supported, up to 800 TB is supported in theory!) or split groups of files and folders. PhileSplitter has it's own built in CAB compression and encryption if you wish to use them to save time switching between programs.
