Break is designed to help you work more effectively by recording your work times and reminding you when you have been working for too long. It lets you set a timer from 15-60 minutes to remind you to get up and go for a walk, have a coffee, go home, go to bed etc as well as totaling time at work, on break or away from the computer. This program is for splitting large files for easier distribution. (Or if you are a spy, you can divide a file up and even encrypt it for security reasons...) Using either a normal window or a wizard interface, files can be split by either the number of files that you want, the maximum file size, or you can use preset common sizes for EMailing, floppies, Zips, CDs, etc... The program can Chop and UnChop files in Wizard and normal interface, and supports file time and attributes preserving, CRC and even encryption. However, if size is an absolute priority and you do not need any of the more advanced features of Chop, you can instead set Chop to create a very small BAT file to rebuild the file. Chop is written in Assembly Language for maximum efficency and minimum size.

Most file encryptors use methods that rely on the time taken in guessing the key number. Providing the key length is 128 bits or greater this method works well... for now. CryptIt uses a variant of Vernam encryption that can have keys the same size as the file to be encrypted. Thus, if you are encrypting a 5MB file, then you can have a 40 Million bit key! This is virtually unbreakable by any computer, especially when you consider that the file must also be checked with each combination to see if it is decrypted. Furthermore, the key file can be anything - a program, a swap file, an image of your cat or even a music file.
CryptIt also has a ability to use removable media (USB keys, CDs, floppies) as a key, further increasing the security and convenience of the method. If your needs are more simpler then you can also use a word (string), but the advantages of the Vernam method are lost then. Descriptions can be stored within the encrypted file, as well as the file name of the code. This enables the file to be, for example, EMailed to another person who has the same collection of codes as you, while not sending the actual code. Command line operation is also supported and CryptIt is written in Assembly Language for maximum efficiency.

Looking for a simple countdown timer to prevent you toasting your clothes in the dryer or freezing soft-drink cans while you are "working" on your computer? Egg is an easy to use countdown timer, settable by second divisions from 1 second up to 99 hours. While it features a compact window, common times (1, 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45 and 60 minutes) are settable with only two clicks. It can have a beep or almost any standard audio file (including MP3s) for the "time-up" sound, either of which can be set to repeat. For the more demanding user, Egg offers several more advanced abilities, including auto repeating timers, keyboard shortcuts, "On-Top" window options, muting, flash screen alarm, long sound termination and operation while minimized. Egg can also be minimized to the System tray and controlled via its icon, or the window size can be varied to whatever size you want, including full screen, to allow you to see the count from across the room. All Settings, including window position, are saved for easy configuring. Command Line options and are also supported and Egg requires under 100KB of hard drive space.

QWave is designed to simplify the previewing of audio files Most players will take up to 10 seconds to load just the program. QWave gets to the point faster by having only an icon in the System Tray and does nothing during start-up other than play the file. In addition, QWave is extremely small (6 KB - the ReadMe is larger than the program itself) and uses the in-built Media Control Interface to play files.
