Look RS232

Look RS232 is a tool for debugging computer connection with peripheral devices using COM port, such as modem, mini-ATS, projector etc. Its easy to use interface guarantees an easy work with Com-port. Look RS232 can send data through COM port, receive data from an outer device through COM port, it has port indication as well. Look RS-232 supports connection at the standard speed of 110?115200 kbit/s, it supports commands of COM port program control. Look RS-232 supports data input in ASCII, BIN, HEX, OCT formats, keeps log of the sent and received data and commands in ASCII, BIN, HEX, OCT formats, it has an option of time link (relating to COM port activation). Look RS-232 works with system initiated COM ports regardless of whether they are installed on motherboard or on supplementary in/output boards, e.g. VS-Com (Roadrunner) PCI-800H 8-port PCI.

Docklight RS232 Terminal - RS232 Monitor

Docklight is a test, analysis and simulation tool for serial communication protocols (RS232, RS485/422 and others). * Simulating serial protocols - Docklight can send out user-defined sequences according to the protocol used and it can react to incoming sequences. This makes it possible to simulate the behavior of a serial communication device, which is particularly useful for generating test conditions that are hard to reproduce with the original device (e.g. problem conditions). * Logging RS232 data - All serial communication data can be logged using two different file formats: use plain text format for fast logging and storing huge amounts of data. Or create a HTML file with styled text that lets you easily distinguish between incoming and outgoing data or additional information. * Detecting specific data sequences - In many test cases you will need to check for a specific sequence within the RS232 data that indicates a problem condition. Docklight manages a list of such data sequences for you and is able to perform user-defined actions after detecting a sequence, e.g. taking a snapshot of all communication data before and after the error message was received. * Responding to incoming data - Docklight lets you specify user-defined answers to the different communication sequences received. This allows you to build a basic simulator for your serial device within a few minutes. It can also help you to trace a certain error by sending out a diagnostics command after receiving the error message. Docklight will work with the COM communication ports provided by your operating system. Physically, these ports will be RS232 SUB D9 interfaces in many cases. However, it is also possible to use Docklight for other communication standards such as RS485 and RS422, which have a different electrical design to RS232 but follow the RS232 communication mechanism. Docklight has also been successfully tested with various USB-to-RS232 converters.

Docklight Scripting

Docklight Scripting gives you both, flexibility and simplicity. Within minutes you can build your own automated testing tools and create * Repeated test cycles (e.g. endurance testing for a motion control / drive system). * Time-controlled test jobs (e.g. sending a diagnostics command at certain times of day). * Automatic device configuration scripts (e.g. resetting a RS232 device to factory defaults before delivery). * Fault analysis tools for service and maintenance tasks (e.g. running a set of diagnostics commands and performing automatic fault analysis). * Protocol testers with automatic checksum calculations (e.g. CRC - Cyclic Redundancy Codes). * Docklight startup scripts (e.g. automatically starting a COM port logging task at PC startup). Docklight Scripting uses the VBScript engine, allowing you to write your tests in a simple and well-known script language. Docklight's basic functions and features are made available through a small and convenient set of script commands. The sample applications and scripts provided make getting started easy, and allow you to become productive immediately.

Lap Timer 2000

LapTimer 2000 is a small MS Windows program that will count and time laps on any scale slot car track. Laps are timed with 1/1000 of a second accuracy. Lap Timer 2000 includes hardware interfaces for the Joystick Game Pad, Parallel Printer Port, Keyboard and the RS-232 Serial Communications Port. Slot car tracks with up to four lanes can be used with Lap Timer 2000. A single race or practice session can record up to 4096 laps per lane. The current lap time for each lane is displayed using a large 90 point font to facilitate easy viewing from across a room. The current lap time displayed for each lane is updated each time a slot car passes over the lap counter track. The current lap number will also be updated when a slot car passes over the lap counter. Races can be run for a specified length of time or until a preset number of laps have been completed. A race summary file is created when a race is completed. This race summary file can be viewed or printed. The race summary includes the number of laps completed as well as individual lap times for each competitor. Detailed instructions are provided in the Help file to build the necessary lap counter interface cable, or if you would prefer you can simply purchase a ready-made interface cable. Lap Timer 2000 includes a Hot Laps database. This database can be used to store race results and practice session times. The database includes facilities to record modification notes and their effects. Hot Laps data can be sorted by a variety of criteria, making it ideal for tracking modifications and the resulting lap times. Facilities to export race log files in the Full Grid Online Racing Series format are also included. Screen resolutions of 640x480, 800x600, 1024x786, 1152x864 and 1280x1024 are supported.

IPCOMServer

IPCOMServer is a cheap and easy solution to control RS-232 devices without the use of expensive router products like a Cisco® 2511 Terminal server. The IPCOMServer acts as a Telnet server, connecting the user directly to a chosen COM port. IPCOMServer can be connected to by either using a Telnet program or a custom written Telnet Client. A Telnet program will provide the user with a text interface to interrogate the attached RS-232 device. The reason why IPCOMServer was developed was to enable a user to control custom built electronic equipment, or to access remote control test equipment like, TTC Fireberd 4000® or Protocol Analyzers etc. IPCOMServer acts as a virtual connection between a TCP/IP port or socket and a personal computers Serial/COM port. When a Telnet program or client connects to IPCOMServer, it will be connected directly to the serial port specified in the Setup of IPCOMServer. Strings of data or commands that are generated at the Client will be transported across the TCP/IP network to the Host. At the host the incoming commands are relayed to the serial port. The device attached to the host will react on the commands by sending replies back to the host, which are then relayed back the client. The replies can be used to display either text form or to update a graphical user interface (GUI). See the application notes for more information.
