The Stringed Instrument Workshop is built around the concept of stringed, fretted instruments. The entire program is designed to operate with user defined instruments and tunings. Its features can be divided into five distinct categories:
1) The definition of instruments and tunings.
2) Generating chord diagrams for a specific instrument and tuning.
3) Identifying chords from their fingering.
4) The diagramming of scales and boxes for modes of a scale.
5) The conversion of chord progressions from one instrument and tuning to another.
The combination of these features provides a rich environment for exploring any stringed instrument, and proves invaluable when working with alternate tunings. An in depth review of these features can be found at www.chordfactory.com. Using this program has made me a better guitarist. I hope it does the same for you.

Why spend a lot of extra money on full featured imaging tools when all you really need to do is review your digital images? For a quick and easy way to view just about any major digital image format, look no further than Markosoft's Image Viewer. The Image Viewer provides a detachable thumbnail view as well as slide show and full screen slide show functionality that provides for the optimum viewing experience no matter how you wish to view your digital images.
Void of the excessive and largely useless features of many other digital imaging applications, the Markosoft Image viewer is a low cost and effective alternative for doing just what the name implies...viewing digital images. The Image Viewer includes zoom in and zoom out features and supports all of the most common image file types including the jpeg, jpg, gif, bmp, emf, wmf, and ico file types.
The newest feature of the Image Viewer is the JPEG Resize function. Because high resolution digital cameras often create images that are well over one megabyte in size, it can be very difficult to email digital photos. With this unique resizing feature, the Image Viewer can resize an entire directory of JPEG images to manageable file sizes that are much more suitable for emailing. And, the newly resized images can be saved to a separate directory so that your original images are unaffected by the changes.
Don't waste a lot of extra money on imaging features that you will never use. Instead, consider the Markosoft Image Viewer for your digital image viewing needs. With the Image Viewer, you get all of the features that are important to the primary task at hand--quickly and easily viewing your digital images.

It has never been easier to be a teacher and create and grade tests as it is now with Markosoft's Test Creator and Test Taker applications. With the Test Creator, you can effortlessly build tests that include multiple choice, true/false, short answer, and essay questions and the tests can either be printed out in paper format or fully automated and administered using the Test Taker application.
To enjoy fully computerized test administration and grading, first create a class and add all of your students to the class. Then, create some tests and add the tests to the class. Finally, your students can use the Test Taker application and log into the class using the user name and password that you set up for them. Once logged into the Test Taker, students can take any test in their list of tests that they have not already completed. Each test can be automatically graded and all of the scores may be tallied into the electronic grade book for you in real time.
Students can review and print out any test that has been completed so that they may see which of their answers were marked correct and incorrect. The teacher retains all control over the grade book and may either alter grades or the status of tests in order to facilitate a test retake if necessary.
If you prefer a more traditional approach to testing and grading tests, the Test Creator may also be used to design and build analog tests that can be printed out on paper and administered in a more conventional manner.

Ham University - Morse Training and Testing
QST Review by Dan Miller November 2001
Actual Morse code lessons are accessed by clicking on (Lessons.¦ You must first put a Lesson Plan together. This is easily accomplished following the directions guided by Morris the Cat˜an animated cat who assists by describing each function the mouse pointer indicates. My favorite method is the (Exercise¦ approach done by copying with the keyboard. What you type is shown in the lower panel. At the end of the exercise, you can compare what you typed with the sent message displayed in the upper panel. Variables that you can manually adjust include speed in words per minute, character speed, message length and word length. In addition to all this, Ham University offers a Morse game called PENTODE. The object is to build a large number of points in a short period of time. These points are received by connecting two or more tiles (the more the better), each containing the same character, as a diode (side by side), triode, tetrode or pentode. Personally, I found the game far less exciting than the speed exercise to copy Morse on the keyboard in the shortest possible time.
Conclusion
Ham University is an excellent tool for anyone wishing to use a computer to study for an Amateur Radio license, regardless of which level they wish to pursue. Of course, my recommendation is to use such a program in conjunction with a class. In the absence of such a class, Ham University provides everything you need to go from ground zero all the way to Amateur Extra+in the comfort of your own living room.
I¦d be remiss in this review if I neglected to mention something else. Displayed at the top of each page of the instruction booklet is a flag of a foreign country. Next to the flag is the appropriate country name, accompanied by its latitude and longitude, CQ Zone number and call sign prefix. This is a very nice touch, adding to the educational and instructional factor of the Ham University program.

My Training Diary is a simple PC-based program designed to be used by both novice and elite athletes. It caters for both coached and uncoached athletes, as well as coaches and support staff. Data for many competitors can be stored in the database - making it ideal for coaches and support staff. Unlike other training diaries, the training program and review process can be 'driven' by either the coach or the athlete.
The foundation of My Training Diary is the ability to electronically exchange information between all stakeholders - provided the coach and athlete have internet access, they can communicate wherever they are in the world. For example, My Training Diary can be configured to allow the exchange of
1. information between the athlete, coach, sports psychologist, physiotherapist, nutritionist, and anyone else the coach wishes to add to the support staff list.
2. a forum used to share ideas and report progress (great for injury management)
3. coaching/club reminders and alerts
4. a catalogue of relevant athlete-specific web-sites
5. training schedule and workout performance
6. coach-configured performance markers
7. numerous reports

Team-based customer email answering system that improves response time/tracking. Enable your staff to more efficiently respond to your customer emails using existing software tools such as Outlook Express. MiraMail features include threading, grouping, shared access and security to help automate the process of communicating with your customers who can still communicate with you through the most easily understood and efficient means possible, email. A configurable auto-reply ensures that your customers will always get a prompt response to let them know you care. MiraMail is easy to learn so that your sales and support staff respond to customer emails using their favorite news client such as Outlook Express, Gravity or X-News. There's no new software to learn so you'll be up to speed with MiraMail with increased productivity immediately. Messages are threaded and assigned a unique ID code so that all responses to customer emails along with any follow-up emails sent by the customer on the same incident will be contained within the same thread. Messages can be grouped to keep messages on separate topics (i.e. product support and sales) in distinct areas. Incoming messages can be filtered into groups based on the content of the message. Shared access makes it possible for managers to monitor responses of your company's sales and support staff and see at a glance what has been answered and be able to review content. Lesser-experienced staff has the opportunity to learn from the responses of others. Secure access is controlled with user names and passwords so that sales and support staff have access to only the groups they are permitted and no one outside your company can get in. Internal communications Messages posted to a MiraMail group can be selectively emailed back to the customer. For example, a draft response can be posted to the group internally requesting comments before actually sending the final response to the customer

Time Sled is a functional time tracking utility that will allow you to account for the time spent on one or another task. You start it when you begin working and you stop it when you finish working.
The tasks you are working on may be grouped into projects. Using such grouping, you may set an hourly rate (the cost of the work performed for the project per hour) for each project. Time Sled will be calculating the time spent on one or another task (project) as well as the total amount according to the indicated hourly rate.
It is a common knowledge that we do not spend all time at the computer in the real life. Time Sled has a function of inserting the executed task that will enable you to account for the time you spend away from the computer as well.
After having collected the statistics in Time Sled, you can later review the results either in the Lotus Notes Database, or in a special application TS Reporter. Using this program (TS Reporter), you may view the statistics of the time spent under different time sections. TS Reporter allows you to view the statistics graphically as well. You will be able to estimate and analyze the volumes of work you perform by day, month and year or for period. Also, you can export log records to the Microsoft Excel or to the text file or print the report.
Trial limitation: You can use Time Sled no more 4 hours per day and can't use several features in TS Reporter.
