What is FairSound? The FairSound Audio DSP plugin provides loudness compensation, an essential element that is conspicuously missing from the Windows Media Player 9 Series. Have you ever noticed how a high fidelity recording sounds great when the volume is high but thin and weak when played back at a low volume? The fault is not with your recording nor with your speakers; it's your ears!
The human ear has a nonlinear response to sounds at the extremes of the audio spectrum. In layman's terms, this means that your perception of the midrange sound of a trumpet remains fairly proportional as its volume goes from low to high, but not so with the low pitch of a bass guitar or the high pitch of a cymbal. As the volume decreases, the perceived levels of these
sounds fall disproportionately, resulting in a lackluster listening experience. This characteristic of human hearing has been known since the days of vinyl recording, but it seems to have been largely forgotten in the digital realm.

DataFit is a tool used to perform nonlinear regression (curve fitting), statistical analysis and data plotting. What sets DataFit apart from similar curve fitting and regression programs is its ease of use. DataFit is driven by a welldesigned graphical interface, so there are no complicated instructions to remember and no programs to write. Data entry is achieved through a standard spreadsheet interface, which supports ASCII and ODBC data source import, as well as cutting and pasting data from the clipboard. With DataFit, you can perform linear or nonlinear regression on data containing up to 20 independent variables. You can choose from more than 600 predefined equations, which are commonly used in statistical, scientific and engineering applications, or create your own equations. DataFitX is a COM component (inprocess ActiveX DLL) which allows you to add a powerful nonlinear regression (curve fitting) engine to your software with just a few simple lines of code. DataFitX is developed using COM, so it can be used in any environment that supports COM, including Microsoft Visual Basic, Microsoft Visual C++, Delphi and VBA (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access or any VBA enabled client). A DataCollection object provides methods and procedures for importing and gathering data, as well as providing statistical summaries for the data. The NonlinearRegression and MultipleNonlinearRegression objects provide methods and procedures for defining regression models with up to 100 fitting parameters and performing nonlinear regression on data containing up to 50 independent variables. The CubicSpline object performs cubic spline interpolation on 2dimensional data. These objects provide properties and methods that return results for the fitting parameters, as well as detailed statistical summaries of the regression results. Arrays of predicted values and residuals are automatically generated, but you can also predict values on a point by point basis (Y at a value of X), or create arrays of predicted values based on data arrays you supply. These objects also include methods to perform derivative and multiple root calculations (X values at a specified value of Y). There are more than 600 predefined models, but you can easily define your own by passing a string representation of a model to one of the model creation methods.
