Essen Target Harvester is designed to extract email addresses from web sites using the HTTP protocol. It does not depend upon any additional software unlike many email harvesters that depend on Internet Explorer. Essen Target Harvester is a very fast program that supports multi-threaded (multiple connections to the web server) web page loading from web sites. It requires very few machine resources while running and is very easy to use. In order to operate, it needs a computer with a functioning connection to the Internet.
The program searches the website, given as a URL or list of URLs, at each level and each link in order to extract email addresses. It can search from a list of manually entered URLs or generate a URL list to harvest entire sites. The address extraction is extremely fast. It can connect from 1 to 15 sites at once, or you can control the number of connections from 1 to 100 with a web server. It can avoid email addresses with keywords that you provide. It can also be set to only accept URLs with keywords provided by you. It also allows you to pause while going offline for other tasks. The program can resume the harvesting process at the same place where it left off, even if your computer crashes. WebScout is a powerful, yet simple to configure, HTTP and SOCKS 5 proxy which can share, monitor and filter Internet access for a variety of web browsers and Internet applications.
The intuitive user interface makes it simple to create access rules controlling what activity is allowed and which should be blocked. You can simply deny access to a blocked site or provide your own custom error message informing the user about your Acceptable Usage Policy.
Rules can be created to allow or block access based on the workstation, username, time of access, domain name, directory or filename. For example, you can block access to yahoo.com/games, all EXE files, or permit access during lunch hours only.
Besides blocking access, you can also speed throttle certain requests to a slower speed so that they do not congest your network. For example, you can speed throttle MP3, EXE and ZIP file downloads to a maximum of 10 KB/s per user.
WebScout includes a usage counter which records how much bandwidth and time each user or workstations has spent on the Internet on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Usage limits can be applied to users so that when a user exceeds their quota, their Internet access is restricted.
