WinRK is a new high performance, multi-format file archiver. It supports many comman archive formats, as well as a new high compression and secure RK archive format. Archives can be extracted and modified with the new innovative user interface, including full integration with the Windows Shell.
The innovative new user interface allows easy access to archiving features without needing detailed knowledge of command line switches, but remains familiar through the use of a CD burner paradigm. The GUI has been designed to provide a high quality experience for the user, even when running on older versions of Microsoft Windows such as Win98. It even supports anti-aliased fonts and smooth full color graphics on Win95!
WinRK also supports many of the most popular archiving formats, including zip,tar, gzip and bzip2. The support for the zip format has been designed to be completely compatible with WinZIP, the defacto industry standard. It includes enhanced deflate and deflate64 algorithms providing 10-20% better compression than most other zip utilities without sacrificing compatibility. It also includes the BZIP2 algorithm, and the new WinZIP 9.0 AES encryption standard for secure archives.
Legacy support for the original RK archive format has been maintainted, providing an easy migration from the older rk archiver versions.
The brand new WinRK archive format introduced in by WinRK has been carefully designed to support the maximum of compression features, data integrity and portability (both os and language).
