The story stages Beethro, a colorful hero and shrewd swordsman who makes a living by fighting his way down the 25 levels to destroy the monsters that have invaded the underground. A thousand years ago, on a world many light years away, two factions came to war. Their society was technologically advanced, and in danger of destroying itself and the planet.
