Visual Paradigm for the Unified Modeling Language (VP-UML) Community Edition is a free UML CASE tool. The tool is designed for a wide range of users, including Software Engineers, System Analysts, Business Analysts, System Architects alike, who are interested in building large scale software systems reliably through the use of the Object-Oriented approach. The Community Edition of VP-UML is available free of charge. Unrestricted in its features, it contains all UML diagrams and all model elements. You can save and load projects and generate Java code. In addition, the unique textual analysis tool allows the designer to perform domain analysis from the problem statement or use case descriptions. The model consistency-check mechanism is also included. The class repository lets you browse what classes or model elements you have in the project and share them among UML models by dragging the model elements to the desired model. However, the Community Edition only allows a maximum of one diagram for each type of UML diagram per project and it is not bundled with an IDE.
